Food Not Bombs is a non-profit organization that was started in 1980 in Campbridge, Massahussettes by anti-nuclear activisists. Food Not Bombs was made to save food from the waste stream, prepare hot meals, and serve them to the homeless or anyone in need.
With New Mexico being second in the Nation for food insecurity, a few of the Youth Allies organizers decided to open our own chapter in Santa Fe as of this year. We rescue food from grocery stores like Trader Joes, Whole Foods, and Wild Oats and prepare meals two Saturdays a month. Not only do we want to want to reduce the food waste in Santa Fe, but also to see or fellow Santa Feans fed hot, healthy food.
